Yelan was first introduced as an NPC inGenshin Impact2.6 during The Chasm Delvers Quest when Traveler was fighting the Giant Digging Device, Haftvad the Worm. As of version 2.7, Yelan is finally released as a playable character in her own limited banner alongside the exclusive 5-star weapon, Aqua Simulacra.
During her Story Quest, The Umbrabilis Orchis Chapter,Genshin Impactplayers will get the chance to interview the candidates competing to become the new Tianshu of the Liyue Qixing and also go on an undercover mission with Yelan, as things are not as peaceful as they seem.

Yelan’s Umbrabilis Orchis Chapter – Act I Story Quest Walkthrough
The chapter starts with Traveler and Paimon bumping into Huixin, Uncle Tian’s daughter, while walkingaround Liyue Harbor inGenshin Impact. She tells them that her father is considering stepping down from the Tianshu position.
Seven-Star Selection Sub-Quest
After talking with Huixin, go to the second floor of Yanshang Teahouse to speak with Uncle Tian about his condition. He reassures the players that he’s just getting tired due to old age and is, in fact, looking for a successor.
Considering Uncle Tian is unfit for the job, he tasks Yelan to interview three candidates, andGenshin ImpactTravelers are welcome to helpher with the assessment.
Here, players need to travel to the marked area at Yuehai Pavilion and then read Qianwei, Mingbo, and Zhiyi’s manifestos. After that, Yelan will interview the three contenders separately and conclude that Qianwei is smart but arrogant, Mingbo is meticulous but timid, and Zhiyi seems perfect from all angles.

After the interview, the group returns to Uncle Tian, who reveals that all three candidates studied under him, but Zhiyi was the longest.
Yelan conducts more research on each candidate and sends her trusted assistants, Wenyuan and Shanghuam, to track Qianwei and Mingbo while she and the Travelers trail Zhiyi.
Candidature Analysis Sub-Quest
Upon arriving at the North Wharf,Genshin Impactplayers and Yelan find Bolaiand ask him about Zhiyi, only to be answered that he’s a hard-working young man with a difficult past. Shortly after, the man in question is seen talking with Linlang, owner of Xigu Antiques, about buying a wine ware set, and players need to follow him without getting caught.
After talking with Yelan and deciding to ask more people, Uncle Sun and Uncle Gao admit Zhiyi is not a good angler and is always seen bargaining shop owner for Mora, while Dugu Shuo says that he always heard bad rumors about the latter but they disappeared a few months ago, which led to the conclusion that someone is trying to influence people’s opinion to make Zhiyi win and to manipulate the Liyue Qixing from within.

With that conclusion in mind, Yelan and the Traveler return to the Teahouse to re-read Zhiyi’s manifesto and try to find the one responsible. After a while, theGenshin ImpactBow userdiscovers a part that talks about mining Qingxu Pool, as there was a legend that says a treasure can be found buried deep underground. Since the Blackcliff Forge handles almost all the projects, the groups pay a visit only to find a diary that records all events and new recruits.
Upon asking Iron Shoulder about the three new recruits, he answers that they always leave when their shift ends and allow no one to drink with them.
Thanks to the rain, Yelan tracks down the recruits’ footprints in an abandoned shack, only to find nothing after investigating. But not all hopes are lost, as Yelan smells a nice fragrant in the air from the burning papers and concludes that this high-quality ink is related to one ofGenshin Impactorganizations called the Fatui.
Foregone Conclusion Sub-Quest
Yelan asksGenshin Impactplayers to meether tomorrow to announce Zhiyi as the winner, so he can lower his guard. Go to the Paimon’s menu, select the Time settings, and fast-forward to 9:00 the next day. Upon following him around and losing his tracks, Yelan’s subordinates discover Zhiyi bought very expensive, strong liquor, and they confirm his wine ware set purchase.
Next, re-enter the Time settings and set it after 20:00 to meet with Yelan at Yanshang Teahouse, who tells the Travelers that the Fatui Ambassador, Yusupov, has left alone towards Qingxu Pool.
Upon following him and entering the ruins,Genshin Impactplayers must solve a small puzzle to proceed. The gold statues need to be placed in the glowing spots to open the path ahead. After that, enter the room where Zhiyi and Yusupov are drinking to gather evidence.

It turns out that Zhiyi was poisoning Uncle Tian by orders from the Fatui and did the same thing with the Ambassador to get him off his back.
Yelan then announces herself and demands Zhiyi to give up as he betrayed Tian’s trust, and she has all the evidence she needs to put him in prison.
The quest concludes with Baizhu treating Uncle Tian as the latter expresses his disappointment in these turns of events but reassures the Travelers that since the poison is gone, he still has a few years left to pick a new successor. With that, Yelan’sStory Quest ends inGenshin Impact, rewarding players with 60 Primogems.
