Call of Duty: Warzone’s Pacific update, bringing with it the new Caldera map and all manner of other changes to the battle royale, has not been without its issues. A major update to a massive game likeCall of Duty: Warzoneis inevitably going to come with bugs, especially with the game’s QA testers currently striking. AllCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers can do is call attention to and ride the bugs out. As evidence of how frustrating the bugs can be, oneCall of Duty: Warzoneplayer showed how their sniper rifle’s scope recently became unusable.
Reddit user Kaaaaos shared a clip from one of their recentCall of Duty: Warzonematches online on Saturday. The clip isn’t anything out of the ordinary. The player is traversingCalderaand is decently geared. They climb up on the roof of a building and take out their scoped Kar98 to potentially pick off some combatants below them. In a lucky coincidence, a player appears just below Kaaaaos and is oblivious to their presence. Kaaaaos uses ADS to scope in on their foe, only to see black. The scope has been blinded.

It’s no understatement to say that Kaaaaos was completely blinded when they tried to ADS. The scope itself showed a flat black texture, while the screen around it went white so as to allow the player to focus on the scoped view. Kaaaaos even tried to look down the scope a couple of times, but nothing changed between looks. TheCall of Duty: Warzonesniper riflewas simply broken and useless.
No explanation for the broken sniper rifle scope was obvious. The clip wasn’t long enough to show where Kaaaaos picked up the weapon or if they’d experienced any odd circumstances prior. It’s possible that he was blinded by astun or flash grenadeand the effect subsisted, or that there’s potentially a more technical hardware-related issue going on. All that’s clear is that it’s broken.
To be clear, there’s no indication that the sniper rifle blindness bug is widespread or even recurring. Kaaaaos' clip is the only prominent example of the issue. No one in the Reddit thread commented that they’d also experienced theWarzonebug. It seems to have been a one-off.
It just goes to show that the state ofCall of Duty: Warzoneis somewhat tenuous. When these types of one-off bugs are increasingly common, there’s a bigger issue at play than just the bug. Whether it’s a rushed development cycle, thelack of QA testers, or a broader issue, only the developers know.Call of Duty: Warzoneplayers will just have to enjoy the experience for what it is and try not to take it too seriously.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
