The days ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remake’sPlayStation exclusivity are officially numbered.The Game Awards 2021had great news for fans of the series that don’t own a Sony console, as it has been confirmed that the modern reimagining of the classic JRPG will be heading to PC, and soon.
This won’t come as a surprise to many fans, as a PC version ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remakehas been mentioned in multiple leaks in the last few months, most recently in aNvidia GeForce Now leakfrom last month. By now, it’s become less a question of if a non-PlayStation version was coming, and more when it was finally going to be revealed, as well as when fans will be able to get their hands on it.

Turns out they’ll be able to do so in the very near future. While the GeForce Now leak suggested thatFinal Fantasy 7 Remakewouldn’t be coming to PC until June 2022, fans won’t have to wait that long to join Cloud Strife and friends on their adventure through Midgar. In fact, they only have to wait a few days, as Square Enix announced at The Game Awards that the game will be coming to the Epic Games Store next Thursday, December 16.
As for what PC players can look forward to, the new trailer released at the event confirmed that the upcoming PC release will be theIntergradeversion ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remakereleased earlier this year for the PS5. This means that, in addition to the main game, the PC version will include Intergrade’s visual upgrades as well as theINTERmission DLC featuring Yuffie’s story,so non-PlayStation players won’t be missing out on any major content.
For the time being, it looks like PC gamers will only be able to get the game off theEpic Games Store, as that is the only storefront listed in the trailer. That being said, Square Enix makes no mention of the game being exclusive to it, so it’s possible that PC fans may seeFinal Fantasy 7 Remakecome to other marketplaces like Steam at some point down the line, for those who aren’t fans of the Epic Games Store for whatever reason.
Aside fromFinal Fantasy 7 Remake’s PC version, The Game Awards 2021 boasted new looks at upcoming games and several new reveals. These includeStar Wars: Eclipse, a newStar Warsgame being developed by Quantic Dream, aWonder Womangame byMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordordeveloper Monolith Productions, and the long-awaited sequel toAlan Wake.
Final Fantasy 7 Remakeis available for PS4 and PS5, and will launch for PC on December 16.
