With over a decade’s worth of regular content updates,Final Fantasy 14has made a name for itself byintroducing impressive new bosses, raids, and dungeons to challenge and explore with every major patch. While these battles are engaging spectacles in their own right, hardened veterans of the game may find themselves looking formore formidable foes to test their skills. For these players,Final Fantasy 14offers Extreme Trials, revamped versions of existing boss fights, introducing new boss mechanics, harder hitting attacks, and exclusive rewards including powerful equipment and rare mounts for those able to complete them.
Final Fantasy 14’s newest expansion,Dawntrail, is no exception to this, introducing two new Extreme Trials based on the trials encountered during theDawntrailMain Scenario Quest. While these are the only Extreme Trials available at launch, other forms of high-difficulty content are also planned, including the Arcadion raids and the upcoming Futures Rewritten Ultimate Raid.

How To Unlock Dawntrail Extreme Trials
In order to access the new Extreme Trials introduced inDawntrail, players will have tocomplete the new Main Scenario storyline, concluding with the level 100 quest “Dawntrail”. Upon finishing this quest, a new NPC will become available in Tuliyollal, theWandering Minstrel (X:11.1, Y:14.6), who will unlock Worqor Lar Dor (Extreme) and Everkeep (Extreme) when speaking with him. These trials can be foundin the Duty Finder under the High-end Duty tab, requiring a minimum average item level of 690 to queue for, although this restriction can be bypassed by entering with a premade 8-player party. The easiest way to meet this requirement is to obtainfree item level 690 armor and weapons from the armorer Mewazunte in Tuliyollal (X:12.4, Y:12.8), anditem level 690 accessories from level 100 dungeons.
Defeating either Extreme Trial will reward players with item level 710 equipment, the highest item level gear available untilthe Arcadion raid seriesreleases on May 22, 2025, with Worqor Lar Dor (Extreme) dropping weapons, and Everkeep (Extreme) dropping accessories. For players unable to win the random roll for loot rewards after defeating a boss, every victory earns players a corresponding totem which can be exchanged with Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7, Y:13.5) for rewards from the boss' loot tables. Additionally, every victory has a rare chance to drop the exclusive Wings of Ruin or Wings of Resolve mounts.
