Between the beast tribes, Ishgard’s restoration, and levequests, leveling up crafting classes inFinal Fantasy14has never been easier. There are eight crafting classes in all, andnew playerscan find the crafting system pretty overwhelming at first. Most players suggest leveling them all up together, as they can depend on each other for certain ingredients for different crafting recipes.

Once totally leveled up though, which is the best crafting class? Many level up their crafting classes as a way to make Gil, furniture, and equipment. Some craftable items are more successful than others in making gil and some others can just craft much more desirable items for players. There are also ones that are most useful because they create times that can be used in recipes for other Final Fantasy 14 professions.

Updated on August 07, 2025, by Allison Stalberg:Final Fantasy 14 has become more and more popular. Even World of Warcraft players are migrating from the world of Azeroth to the lands of Eorzea. With the boost of players coming, many strategic questions are resurfacing. Even outside of combat classes, there are strategies to making the most gil and useful items. Most players that make bank know the strengths and weaknesses of the crafting classes.

8Culinarian

Culinarian is infamous for being the least popular crafting class for a number of reasons. Everything the player can make in this class grants them temporary stat boosts. While those can provide a small experience bonus or the difference between victory and defeat, players get plenty of food already from main story quests. Even if that food runs out, food is cheaply bought from NPCs as well. The stat boosts are only ever necessary if players are doing the Extreme or Savage versions of the latestraid content. That is content not all players get into.

Traits of the Culinarian Crafting Class:

7Alchemist

How useful the alchemist class is is a little dependent on what combat classes the player uses. Alchemists can craft certain weapons, mostly ones that can be useful to magical classes likeWhite Mage and Summoner. They can also make potions and orchestrations.

Not all players care aboutcollecting the available music in the gameand players do not often use potions either. Many players also dislike this class because the ingredients for the recipes are more difficult to get compared to others.

Traits of the Alchemist Crafting Class:

6Armorer

Armorer is best for players who play combat classes of War like tanks andphysical DPS. With that in mind, it can be useful to more classes than the alchemist class. More, but not all. It also produces frying pans ( which are the main tool of Culinarians) as well as shields, which are only used by one class and only when it is past level 30. Armorer also has a significant overlap with Blacksmith in terms of the crafting materials it can produce. These factors make it one of the less useful crafting classes.

Traits of the Armorer Crafting Class:

5Leatherworker

The gear that Leatherworkers can make span across more classes than Armorer and Alchemist. It is versatile particularly in clothes, not weapons. The gear spans between tanks, DPS, andhealing classes. That means while players can likely craft for their own character, they can also craft for their friends or sell a lot of gear on the Market Board for a good price. One hurdle for Leatherworkers is that they require ingredients that are not covered by just one class.

Traits of the Leatherworker Crafting Class:

4Weaver

Weavers can make a lot of gear for casters and gatherers, which really help the crafting/gathering loop. It also makes some of the better cosmetic items late-game. Players who are into glamours often take up this class first.

Besides making gear for casters and gatherers, Weavers are also similar to Leatherworkers in terms of versatility.

Traits of the Weaver Crafting Class:

3Carpenter

For players with homes to decorate, it may not be surprising that Carpenter is their favorite class. This class excels at crafting all kinds of furniture. Even for those without homes, they can craft furniture items to sell for a high price. While all classes can craft furniture, Carpenter is the one with the most housing recipes. Besides furniture, the class lets you make a variety of accessories and weapons, as well as lumber, which is used in a large amount of late game recipes.

Traits of the Carpenter Crafting Class:

2Blacksmith

Blacksmith is like a far superior Armorer. It can craft a ton of weapons, including the special and popular boss themed weapons for manyclasses like Monk, Samurai, Dragoon, Dark Knight, Warrior, and Machinist.

Besides being able to make weapons for most classes, Blacksmiths also can make nuggets and ingot which are used in a lot of other crafting recipes. So this class is not use useful in terms of other combat classes, but for other crafting classes as well.

Traits of the Blacksmith Crafting Class:

1Goldsmith

The most useful class of all crafters is Goldsmith because it makes jewelry. Jewelry is used by every single class from combat to crafters and gatherers. If that isn’t enough, the items Goldsmiths can make sell for a lot. It is also the main class of the great Godbert Manderville, owner of the Gold Saucer. That NPC knew where all the money was in crafting from the very beginning.
