Last week,Breaking BadandThe MandalorianstarGiancarlo Espositoclaimed that he was involved in some “big” video game project, but stopped short of revealing exactly what it was. Then rumors started swirling that Eposito was the villain inFar Cry 6, and now it appears as though those rumors were true. The Hong Kong PlayStation Store has leaked the existence ofFar Cry 6, complete with box art, a release date, and confirmation of a next-gen version.
According to theFar Cry 6leak, the new game will be released on June 10, 2025. Those that purchase the current-gen version of the game can expect a free upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X “when available,” which could be an indication that the next-gen version will have a different release date. In any case, those that pre-order can get their hands on the special Discos Locos weapon and a skin for Chorizo, though it’s unclear who exactly that is at this point in time.

InFar Cry 6, players will take control of Danji Rojas, who is a local Yaran and guerrilla fighter rebelling against Anton’s authoritarian regime in Yara. In typicalFar Cryfashion,Far Cry 6players will be able to craft weapons and utilize a variety of vehicles, as well as “befriend Amigos” and get help form the Fangs for Hire faction.Far Cry 6will reportedly have the largest open world ofanyFar Crygameto date, with players exploring jungles, beaches, cities, and more.
TheFar Cry 6PlayStation Store leak also confirms that the game will support online multiplayer for up to two players, which is in line with previous games in the series. It stands to reason that theFar Cry 6online multiplayer/co-op features will likely be very similar to what was seen inFar Cry 4and5, so fans should still expect the game to be a primarily single-player experience.
Luckily,Far Cryfans shouldn’t have to wait long to get official confirmation of the game. It’s highly likely that the upcomingUbisoft Forward event on July 12will be where the game is announced, with Ubisoft possibly sharing even more details than what’s included in theFar Cry 6leak. Hopefully the event includes some clarification on when theFar Cry 6next-gen versions will be available, and if they share the current-gen release date or not.
According to the leak,Far Cry 6will launch on Aug 09, 2025 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development as well.
