Romance in life and farm sim games remains ever popular, and fans of the genre may be eager to know more about the romance options available inFae Farm, an upcoming RPG sim set in the magical realm of Azoria. Going on dates, getting married, and starting a family are often some of the most rewarding and immersive farm sim experiences, alongside peaceful farming-related activities. As some players might expect from the genre,Fae Farmhas a set of NPCs to romance or build friendships with. However, there are also a few potentially unexpected twists, especially with in its multiplayer element.
Fans can expect a lot in this department for one of2023’s most promising cozy games, and Game Rant recently spoke withFae Farmgame director Isaac Epp about its approach to inclusive romance options and weddings.

Fae Farm’s Inclusive Romance Options
Many farm sim fans will likely be pleased to hear thatFae Farmdoes haveinclusive romance options, and Epp revealed players can romance 6 of its NPCs and build friendships with 15 NPCs. Epp explained NPCs are interested in all players because they are player-sexual, something commonly seen in video games. Romance is irrespective of how players identify themselves in the game’s diverse character creator, with Epps adding that players “can date any or all of them that you want. And that’s true during multiplayer as well.” So if one player is more interested in romancing while others go fishing or questing, they can.
Where somefarm sim games likeStory of Seasonsmake players get married as a non-negotiable part of the story and gameplay progression,Fae Farmalso accounts for players less interested in dating or marrying NPCs. As Epp put it,

If the player is interested in them back then great, they can go help each other out, learn more about each other, and go on dates. If they decide, once you hit your max relationship that you want to get married to one of them, you can - you certainly don’t have to.
Although building friendships and romance is often a popular and fun part of the genre, it’s always nice to have the choice and represent those players who might be less interested in the tradition within or beyond gaming.
How Weddings Work In Fae Farm
Possibly like Rivals forStory of Seasons' marriage candidates, romance inFae Farmcan have an element of competition if more than one player is interested in marrying an NPC, with some potentially fun results. As Epp explained,
There are some fun things that happen where if two people are interested, then it’s first come, first served - you better go on those dates and get those gifts and try to grind up that relationship if you’re the one that wants to pop the question because an NPC per save can only be married to one player at a time. Just because fictionally that’s what makes sense.
Epp also spoke about how dating and gift-giving have consequences for weddings, which sound like a townsfolk event. Epp explained players can end up with high relationship scores with many NPCs, with those highest-scoring sitting on the front row at players' weddings. This could prove a fun twist for anyone who’s romanced multiple NPCs but remains curious about how other NPCs might react when they marry. Overall,Fae Farm’s romance options look promising, and it will be intriguing to meet more of Azoria’s NPCs when the game launches.
