Approximately a year after release, oneElden Ringplayer was finally able to take down Margit, the Fell Omen after failing to him many times. Just like other FromSoftware titles,Elden Ringhas multiple of what players would consider a “wall,” which describes a boss or challenge that can keep some players from accessing the rest of the game. It can take players a long time to get past these as long as they don’t give up before they succeed. Margit, the Fell Omen is one such boss, making one player take a year before defeating him.
Margit, the Fell Omen will most likely be the first of what are called “Great Enemy Bosses,” bosses that specifically block off the players from progress. Margit blocks off the path to Stormveil Castle, which brings players to the next part of the game, Liurnia of the Lakes. Margit is a tough boss, tricking players into rolling with his slow, deliberate strikes that hit hard and faster attacks that overwhelm them, all the while on a small strip of land thatleads to manyElden Ringplayers failing to Margit. For many players, many failures to Margit are an encouragement to turn back and explore the rest of the first area for leveling or new gear. Even still, players have to beat him, or else they can’t progress.

One such player found themselves still getting blocked by the challenge of Margit’s fight, and has now found the victory they were craving. Posting to r/Eldenring, one user named FatherPixels uploaded a picture of them standing in Margit’s boss fight arena, earning the Talisman Pouch, an item that allows the player to hold moretalismans like the Crimson Seed talismanon their person. This is an item only earned through defeating Margit.
Many players in the comments talk about their own experiences not just with Margit, but with walls of their own. Others congratulate them, only to tell them that this is just the beginning and that there’s the rest of the game to play afterward. Indeed, after this is the rest of Stormveil Castle, includinganother ofElden Ring’s famous Great Enemy Bosses named Godrick, and many wish this player great luck in taking on the rest of what the Lands Between has to offer.
The feeling of satisfaction when taking down that one hard boss is what makes games likeElden Ringan amazing experience to play. Manyplayers try and die taking on the game’s hardest boss Maleniamost likely for that same feeling. There’s no doubt thatElden Ring’s upcoming expansion will contain some of the same tough challenges that FromSoftware’s previous expansions and many players are already preparing to take them on.
Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
