June has been a busy month for game releases. A lot has been stirring up the gaming industry, from E3 2020’s cancellation to the chaos surrounding the Summer Games Fest. Naturally, people want to know which titles have come out ahead in the race to entice players, and one sure fire way to tell is to see which publishers' games made it to the top of Steam’s Top Releases last month.
The Top Releases onSteamare based on the number of copies sold over the course of a month via Valve’s platform, not the number of copies sold overall. It should also be noted that games previously released on other platforms made available via Steam in June also qualify for the rankings.

“Electronic Arts (EA) stormed the charts this month,” Valve writes, noting that 8 of the top 20 games were EA titles. The sheer volume ofEA titles released on Steam June 18thmakes this result unsurprising. The titles which had been released previously through Origin and other avenues includeThe Sims 4,Crysis 3, andStar Wars Battlefront 2. The only titles EA specifically released this June wereThe Sims 4: Eco LifestyleandThe Command & Conquer Remastered Collection.
The publishers jockeying for second place in the ‘top selling releases’ race in June with two titles each are Annapurna Interactive (JourneyandOuter Wildsboth made the list), THQ Nordic (Desperados IIIandSpongebob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydratedwere top sellers,Destroy All Humanswasn’t), and Quantic Dream (Beyond: Two SoulsandDetroit: Become Humanwere hot,Heavy Rainwas not).
Six developers only managed to get one title in the top 20 list for June, not for lack of trying. Those who only produced one title for June, namely Coffee Stain Publishing (Satisfactory), Focus Home Interactive (Hardspace: Shipbreaker), Klei Entertainment (Griftlands), Perfect World Entertainment (Torchlight III), SEGA (Persona 4 Golden), and Xbox Game Studios (Sea of Thieves) can still be proud of their accomplishments.
For now, EA gets to sit comfortably at the top of the sales charts, but its position there is not likely to last long. It has pretty much finished porting its collection to Steam, and its next release on Steam,Madden NFL 21, won’t be out until August. There are manycompeting game titles expected to release in August, including the PC port ofHorizon Zero Dawn,Project Cars, Wasteland 3, Serious Sam 4,andTell Me Why.The relaunch of the iconicMicrosoft Flight SimulatorandBattletoadsis also bound to give EA a run for its money.
