Disney Dreamlight Valley’sA Rift in Timeexpansion introduces a wealth of new content, including a grand new region called Eternity Isle. This island presents the next chapter ofthe game’s main storyand adds a new royal tool, the Royal Hourglass, with the remarkable ability to bend time. This tool allows players to retrieve items lost in time and uncover other hidden secrets, including a new currency called Mist, used to unlock new areas and craft a variety of items and upgrades.
Ancient Cores are one ofA Rift in Time’s many new crafting materials, obtained exclusively on Eternity Isle, referred to as Timebending Parts. Players gain the ability to find Ancient Cores using Timebending after upgrading the Royal Hourglass. This guide provides all the necessary information for players about locating and using Ancient Cores inDisney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time.

Upgrading the Royal Hourglass to Find Ancient Cores
The player obtainsA Rift of Time’s new royal tool, theRoyal Hourglass, early in their adventure on Eternity Isle; upon completing the story quest “The Flying Metal Nuisance,” the player will receive it. Subsequent quests introduce the player to theTimebending Table, a new crafting table capable of turning materials obtained via Timebending into valuable items, including Ancient Machines that can automate tasks, new furniture and decor, and upgrades for the player’s royal tools.
The Royal Hourglass can be upgraded at the Timebending Table by spending Mist, Eternity Isle’s version of Dreamlight, a special currency earned through completing various activities on the island. The Royal Hourglass can be upgraded three times, and each upgrade unlocks the ability to discover new Timebending treasures, royal tool upgrades,Scramblecoin pieces, and more.

How to Find Ancient Cores
Once the Royal Hourglass has been upgraded toLevel 1, at a cost of 5000 Mist, in addition to the aforementioned rewards, the player can also now discover new Timebending Parts calledAncient Cores. There are three levels of Ancient Cores for players to discover, each corresponding to the level of the player’s Royal Hourglass.
Ancient Cores can be found anywhere on Eternity Isle by using the Royal Hourglass’s Timebending ability. Ancient Cores have a chance to drop whenever a treasure is discovered, just like any other Timebending Parts, including Ancient Radiator,Ancient Plate, and others. These parts are also required in recipes that use Ancient Cores.

What are Ancient Cores Used For
Ancient Cores are exclusively used at the Timebending Table for critical upgrades that significantly enhance gameplay inDisney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time. These rare Timebending Parts are used in crafting recipes to create special potions that allow the player to upgrade their royal tools to remove new obstacles around Eternity Isle. They are also used in crafting Ancient Machines, a new device that automates some processes of daily life inDreamlight Valley.
Upgrading Royal Tools to Remove Eternity Isle Obstacles
Ancient Cores are used at the Timebending Table forcrafting potionsthat upgrade the player’s tools. The potions created at the Timebending Table apply permanent upgrades to the player’s royal tools when used, unlike those crafted at a regular crafting table, which offertemporary enhancementswith limited uses.
Crafting and using these potions is the only way to upgrade the tools, including the shovel, pickaxe, and watering can, so they can remove obstacles in the biomes of Eternity Isle. During Merlin’s quest, “Village Project: Timeless Trash,” the player is required to craft the smaller versions of these potions, which do not require Ancient Cores.

However, to remove the larger obstacles, including the larger patches of Swirling Sands found throughout the biomes and others, the player will need to craft the large versions of the potions, requiring a significant amount of Mist, foraged materials, and Ancient Cores.
Crafting Ancient Machines to Automate Tasks
Ancient Cores are also a necessary material used for craftingAncient Machines, powerful new devices crafted at a Timebending Table. Ancient Machines allow players to automate certain tasks inDreamlight Valleyin exchange for Mist, which is used as a fuel source for their actions. These machines cancook multiple dishesat once, automatically water plants, and even gather and forage nearby materials.
Each of the three Ancient Machines can be upgraded two times, with the second level requiring Ancient Core (Level 2) and the third calling for Ancient Core (Level 3) alongside other materials. Each upgrade improves the machine’s capabilities, allowing players to get more benefits for the same amount of Mist spent.
