WithDestiny 2being an ever-evolving game with constant updates and content additions, Bungie usually manages to make each release feel distinct enough in various ways, especially when the main theme of a given Season is cohesive. This often happens through storytelling as well as gameplay, and Season of the Deep is likely to accomplish this once more - especially if therecentDestiny 2leaksprove to be true.Destiny 2players are likely no strangers to leaks of the game, and some have been historically quite damaging, such as the infamous pastebin document that spoiled most of The Witch Queen expansion months before launch.

Destiny 2’s Lightfall erawas not immune to leaks as well, and Season of the Deep seems to carry that even further thanks to alleged leaks that contain pictures taken during an internal meeting at Bungie, revealing many aspects of the Season 21 update. Among them are details regarding Season 21’s upcoming Dungeon weapons and loot pool, which could very well be an indicator ofDestiny 2’s meta shifting in major ways if proven true. In fact, while Lightfall and Season of Defiance focus mainly on Strand, Solar, and Void builds, the new Season of the Deep Dungeon weapons seem to only be Solar or Stasis, hinting at a comeback of the other Darkness subclass.

Leaks Hint That Destiny 2’s Stasis Could Feature Prominently in Season of the Deep

The wayDestiny 2’s Artifact currently works entails a set of five rows with five mods each, with players being able to unlock up to 12 in a given Season and obtain their benefits permanently or until the Artifact is reset. This loop allowed Bungie to add several unique and more potentArtifact mods in Season of Defiance, but at the cost of them being more specialized. In fact, the three main categories that Season of Defiance’s mods fall into are Strand, Solar, and Void, with each improving on their respective gameplay loops, such as Volatile Rounds, Tangles, and Firesprites.

IfDestiny 2’s Season of the Deep leaksprove to be true, and follow the same pattern from Season of Defiance, there’s a strong chance that the next meta for the game is going to revolve around Stasis, Solar, and possibly one element between Strand and Arc.Destiny 2’s Dungeons, in fact, tend to follow their respective launch Season’s meta or reflect it in some way. According to the alleged leaks, Season 21’s Dungeon will come with a Stasis wave frame breech grenade launcher, a Stasis rocket launcher, a Solar SMG, and a Solar rapid-fire glaive.

These weapons would make a lot of sense for several reasons, starting with the fact that amongDestiny 2’s craftable weapons there are no Stasis wave frame grenade launchers. Season of the Haunted did include a Stasis rocket launcher in the form of Bump in the Night, but it’s now a sunset weapon that’s no longer obtainable outside of randomly appearing in vendors' inventories. Furthermore, ifDestiny 2’s Exotic from the Root of Nightmares Raidis any indication of what to expect from Season of the Deep, Stasis and Solar are indeed going to be heavily-featured elements.

This would be particularly good news for Stasis fans, as manyDestiny 2players did note a decay in its usage since Lightfall came out due to several factors, such as the novelty of Strand and the fact that Stasis was hit the hardest with the new mod system and the absence of Elemental Well mods. However, if the Season 21 leaks are proven correct, then players are in for a treat when it comes to the freezing-cold subclasses, all of which might receive new tools with seasonal mods and new weapons.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
