Bungie is no stranger to hiding Easter eggs within its games withDestiny 2having been at the center of many of them. In fact, that main social hub called The Tower has been home to a bunch of hidden secrets that players have stumbled across over the game’s lifespan such as the Giant Traveler Ball and more recently, thefloating Ghouls of the Festival of the Lost. Following the return of Saint-14 this past weekend, players have discovered another hidden Easter egg.

Over on theDestiny 2sub-Reddit, players have begun to post details about a special interaction between certain Titan players and Saint-14. With the Helm of Saint-14 exotic gear equipped, approaching thelegendary hero in his spot inside the Towerwill now trigger a special dialogue line.

An amused Saint-14 will excitedly tell the player:

Ha ha! You look like me! Let us go confuse Zavala like this!

While this custom voice line should amuse Titan players, it almost didn’t make the cut for Season 9. Picking up on the fan excitement and wanting to share its story was the Technical Dialogue Designer at Bungie. After being recorded, theDestiny 2team quickly added it into the system for Saint’s vendor dialogue. However, to properly work, a custom filter needed to be created and applied to it would only trigger when the specific conditions were met.

Unfortunately, with time running out and the necessary technical work not complete, the VO was marked to be cut for time. However, Kareem, the Technical Dialogue Director loved the idea so much that he continued to work on it along with Brenton Woodrow. The filter was added, but after the first test, the line wouldn’t trigger. Undeterred, Kareem adjusted the voice line order, so that ifthe Helm of Saint-14 was being wornby the player, the system would check that first. After the update, everything worked as expected in game, which left more than a few developers surprised as they thought the line had been cut.

If the recent rumors are to be believed, Saint-14 is about to be pretty busy in the future. Recent glitches and datamines have strongly indicated that thefan favorite mode Trials of Osirismay be coming back soon. Based on new voice lines, many are expecting Saint-14 to be the one to provide his voice to the matches as well. His dialogue in some of the Season of Dawn missions reference more than a few Crucible style lines such as Two for One and plenty more.
