The Eager Edge perk inDestiny 2has been recently nerfed by Bungie. Previously, the perk allowed for enhanced movement capabilities for each of the main classes. Swords already give an edge to the user by allowing for a third-person view and high DPS. Eager Edge added a quick and easily exploitable method to dominate the battlefield with incredible speed. Even if the damage on a sword wasn’t great, the movement capabilities made it useful for running circles around enemies inDestiny 2.Bungie is no stranger to nerfing popular mechanics and weapons inDestiny 2.Some nerfs were made to depower popular combinations, such as the tried and trueWormgod Caress-One Two Punch setup inDestiny 2. Other decisions included shelving many weapons that were far too potent and popular by simply rendering them useless after a certain period of time. If theDestiny 2community finds something too strong, it’s certain that Bungie will do something about it.RELATED:Bungie Says Human Error with New Cheat Detection Led to Destiny 2 BansEager Edge’s nerf comes to the game in hotfix 6.2.0.7 and was announced on Bungie Help’s Twitter account. The nerf itself is described as fixing an issue where players could gain the perk’s effect multiple times in a single activation. The fix reduces the high speed that players could previously achieve with an Eager Edge sword significantly. The perk will still allow for the 100% increase to Lunge Range for 1 second, but it’ll now adhere strictly to the 4-second cooldown; while still good, it will make Eager Edge not as desirable as otherperks inDestiny 2.

WheneverBungie nerfs a popular perk inDestiny 2, be it for a weapon or a piece of exotic gear, it always invites community discussion. The replies to Bungie Help’s Tweet about the hotfix give a sense of disappointment in Bungie’s priorities in fixing things that are wrong with the game. Repeated mentions of the Duality dungeon needing a fix can be found after wading through the various responses to Bungie’s decision.

Recently, Bungie has made strides towards creating a better power fantasy for players by updating the Light subclasses and making each feel powerful. However, the Eager Edge nerf shows that Bungie still wants to keep the game from leaning too far in that direction. Thefrustration directed towards Bungie over nerfsis nothing new for theDestiny 2developer. Unpopular decisions like sunsetting, the Armor Synthesis system, and Eververse’s prevalence have rocked the community before. To those who have been in the community for a while now, these particular reactions will not be surprising, nor will they be the last ones.

Destiny 2is now available PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
