Bungie, the developer ofDestiny 2, posts weekly updates commenting on how the game is doing as of late via its “This Week At Bungie” blog posts, with many of the game’s future updates, rebalance passes, and sandbox changes getting discussed well in advance using this format. The latest TWAB has, to that end, brought up some major changes to the game’s crafting system.
Namely, whileDestiny 2’s all-new weapon crafting system seems to have been accepted as a solid implementation by much of the game’s community, it was also plainly obvious that Bungie would need to tune it further. Illogical resource caps, for one, have been widely regarded as unnecessary, and it would seem that Bungie is going to change things up rather significantly.

While there are manyways to optimizeDestiny 2’s weapon crafting- introduced with the latestWitch Queenexpansion pack - the fact that Bungie felt it necessary to include over half a dozen entirely new crafting resources to go along with the system has been an issue that gets repeatedly brought up by the community, according to the TWAB. With Hotfix 4.0.0.4 coming out next Tuesday, Bungie will increase all specific resource caps from 250 to 1000, and increase the Neutral Element cap from 8500 to 10000, allowing players to stockpile way more resources than they could before.
Further still, weapon crafting will be made even simpler and more streamlined with the release of the next Season in a couple of months, as Bungie will use this opportunity to remove Ruinous, Adroit, Mutable, Drowned, and Energetic elements from the game entirely. This should mean that players will simply need tounlockDestiny 2’s Weapon Patternsand farm Neutral Element to make full use of the game’s weapon crafting mechanics.
The TWAB also mentions the fact that many players are stockpilingDeepsight weapons inDestiny 2, which effectively bypasses any and all resource caps by leaving weapon objectives finished and stored, but without extracting any resources from them right away. This is likely to change with the announced crafting system tweaks, but seems to be a major concern for Bungie.
While Bungie sure does seem to be taking community feedback to heart as of late, it’s not all roses and sunshine across the board. For as-of-yet undisclosed reasons,Destiny 2music archivists have been taken downon YouTube, and Bungie may be overseeing these takedowns directly, as the company is yet to issue a statement on the matter that would claim otherwise. This would mean that much of the game’s soundtrack is no longer legally available for listening in any way, shape, or form, which is a disservice to the composers.
Destiny 2is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
