With every new console generation comes a newly designed game case, like thePS5’s new case showcasing a new sleek look. But for those nostalgic for the late ’90s era of gaming, Jinn Media’s latest creations featured Instagram may be just what fans are looking for.

Featuring modern games redesigned for a bygone era, Jinn Media’s work features some blockbuster games likePersona 5Royal,The Last of Us Part 2, andDemon’s Soulsrepacked and made to look like they belong in a vintage games section beside actual PS1 games.

The redesigned cases feature the smaller clear Jewel case used by Sony with the PlayStation branding on the bottom of the case like it was in the ’90s. The original PS1 logo features on the top left and each game’s cover art is front and center with the uniqueESRB rating on the bottom left corner, as it still remains for modern game releases today.

Opening the case reveals art on the left side where PS1 games would normally feature a manual and the blu-ray disc sitting on the right side. Flipping a case over reveals the original PS1 art used to designate the number of players each game allows, the memory card space required, and the type of controllers each game supports.

Some nostalgic examples from his Instagram come in the form of remakes of games that were originally released on the PS1. His work features games likeSpyro Reignited Trilogy,Final Fantasy 7 Remake,andResident Evil 2, all three of which are reminiscent of their PS1 counterparts aside from the modernized artwork. The work Jinn Media does is sure to strike a chord for those who played either of these games in the late 90s, a bittersweet feeling given thatPS1 games are not backward compatible on the PS5.

Some other games featured on Jinn Media’s Instagram includeTony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2,Marvel’s Spider-Man, andGod of War, all designed in a similar manner. The remixed look truly shows Sony’s focus on exclusives began with the PS1, an effort thatSony has stated will continue with the PS5.

With the launch of the PlayStation 5, Sony has assured fans that amajority of PS4 games will work on the PS5, with some Sony exclusive games even receiving patches to take advantage of the new hardware. PlayingFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeon a PS5 is a unique blend of modern technologies mixed with re-imagined nostalgic story beats and Jinn Media’s unique work strikes a similar chord.
