Like most big budget games nowadays,Dead Island 2promised consumers special bonuses if they pre-ordered the game. Those pre-ordering the more expensive Gold, Deluxe, or Hell-A Editions ofDead Island 2in particular were promised special items to download “soon after release.“Those pre-ordering the Gold, Deluxe, or Hell-A Editions ofDead Island 2expected to receive special character pack bonuses for theplayable characters Amy and Jacob. Character Pack 1, aka Silver Star Jacob, gives Jacob the flashy Rodeo Sunset skin and The Devil’s Horseshoes weapons. Character Pack 2, aka Cyber Slayer Amy, came with the Neurunner skin and the Casmir & Julienne sword weapons. Unfortunately, those that took the leap and pre-ordered the more expensive versions ofDead Island 2are going to have to wait months to get these items.RELATED:Dead Island 2 Reveals PC RequirementsWhile these items were not technically said to be coming on launch day, they were expected to be available “soon after release.” The official Twitter account has since said that the team is “aiming” to deliver the character packs this summer, meaning fans will likely have to wait months to get the items. It’s safe to say that the hardcore fans that pre-ordered themore expensive versions ofDead Island 2will have likely played through the entire thing by that point, making these cosmetic pre-order bonus items effectively worthless for many. No reason for the extended wait has been given at the time of this writing, but social media reactions make it clear that fans are upset about the development.

This is rather unfortunate for hardcoreDead Island 2fans who pre-ordered the Gold, Deluxe, or Hell-A versions of the game, but the good news is that the launch seems to be going relatively well otherwise.Dead Island 2does have some serious technical problems, but they are easily circumvented most of the time.Dead Island 2reviews have been mostly positive so far, and it seems many fans are enjoying the game as well.

Time will tell how fans react toDead Island 2in the long-term, especially if there are any other controversies that come about. In the meantime, those that own any of the pricier versions of the game can still enjoy the other benefits from them, including weapon packs and an exclusiveskill card. The Gold Edition ofDead Island 2also includes the expansion pass, so hopefully the DLC is enough to bring players back so they can properly use their Character Packs.
