Dead by Daylightis scheduled to make its debut on the big screen with a Blumhouse movie adaptation, and that opens the few doors that Behaviour’s asymmetrical horror game had not already walked through. It would be enticing enough just to seeDead by Daylight’s roster of original charactersinvolved, having Claudette loop Legion or Feng flee from the Nurse.
If it includes licensed characters, though, then that door can be opened much wider to not only a fanbase outsideDead by Daylight, but also potential actors who could be cast in certain roles. Blumhouse and Behaviour could realistically have anyone play original characters as long as they somewhat reflect that likeness, but licensed characters would likely be rigidly stuck to the actors who played them originally. In this way,Dead by Daylightalready has several actors who could reprise their roles.

Stranger Things’ Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, and Jonathan Byers
Stranger Thingsis easily one of Netflix’s most popular properties, and itscrossover intoDead by Daylightbrought with it a ton of content. Unfortunately, that crossover was put to bed a while back now, with anyone who had purchased that content capable of using it in their matches to this day, while anyone who missed out on it can no longer access it.
This created legacy content with fans being able to brandish exclusive characters and skins that new players will likely be confused by when seeing for the first time. Players wantDead by Daylight’sStranger Thingscontentto come back, especially in light of the show’s final season arriving in the future, andDead by Daylightalready includes the likenesses of actors who play important roles in the show.
Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington is one of the most beloved characters in the entire series, for example, while Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton play conflicted lovers Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers. Steve and Nancy were included as their own survivor characters, while Jonathan was added later as a cosmetic skin. Either way, considering how popular the show is, it would be a no-brainer to throw in theseStranger Thingsstars as their characters.
The enduringEvil Deadfranchise used to be synonymous with Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams, but that iconic character is not necessarily a priority to have in relation to it anymore. The two most recentEvil Deadmovies,Evil DeadandEvil Dead Rise, were demonstrative of that.
Besides the other Sam Raimi movies he cameos in, Campbell is easily recognizable for the particular role of Ash after being the face of the IP for so long. Having Campbell’s Ash inBlumhouse’sDead by Daylightmoviewould give him yet another opportunity to play the character, with his likeness and voice already part of the game’s licensed content after all.
Nicolas Cage arriving inDead by Daylightwas a surprise, though the way he is being included inDead by Daylightmakes a lot of sense if fans are familiar with his larger-than-life persona. Few actors have a following as Cage does, where his inherent mystique and seemingly peculiar role choices skyrocket him to a strange place in the realm of Hollywood.
Still, it makes complete sense that Cage would not be brought toDead by Daylightas a singular character-actor like Campbell’s Ash. Instead, Cage is the unique persona himself, and since he has already recently played himself inThe Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, it is surely no surprise to see him do the same inDead by Daylight’s movie.
