Dark Soulsis one of the greatest action-adventure RPGs ever made, with this game propelling FromSoftware to new heights of success. This amazing dark fantasy title incorporated metroidvania elements and an incredible combat system that is still inspiring many games to this day. Players need todefeat tough enemies and bosses to get Soulsthat they can use to level up their character.

However, making the Chosen Undead stronger isn’t the only functionality of Souls, which pretty much acts as a currency of sorts in the game. Players use Souls to purchase items in the game as well, making every act of purchasing an item a pretty thoughtful one. It’s only a given that most people would want to maximize the efficiency of their Souls, so here are some items that players should never spend this hard-earned commodity on in the game.
8Prism Stone
The Prism Stone is a decent item that players can use to mark certain areas inDark Souls. It can also be used to gauge if a fall is deadly or not, with the stone shattering if the drop is fatal.
This Prism Stone may be pretty cheap, but buying it is still not recommended in the slightest. After all, the level design ofDark Soulsis sublime and players will rarely be lost while exploring this amazing game.

7Spell Stoneplate Ring
At a glance, the Spell Stoneplate Ring definitely seems like a good ring to wear in the game. After all, it boasts a +50 to magic defense, making it great against any pesky foe who loves spamming magic in the game.
However, players need only look once at the immense price of this ring to understand why it’s not worth the investment in the slightest. This ring isnowhere near worth 15000 Souls, and players who have a lot of this valuable currency to spare should be the only ones even thinking about purchasing such an expensive piece of equipment that doesn’t even justify the price tag in the slightest.

6Alluring Skull
There are many ways to distract an enemy inDark Souls, and Alluring Skull is one of them. This unique skull-like item bursts upon being thrown, attracting enemies to the spot and evendrawing aggression away from the player as well!

While these items are pretty useful, they also cost a decent amount of Souls to purchase as well. This investment is not worth it in the slightest, especially since a more economical use of distraction tactics is to use simple pebbles to aggro individual enemies in a mod instead.
5Green Blossom
Green Blossom is a simple item that increases the rate at which stamina regenerates for the Chosen Undead.Given how important stamina management is in the game, it’s easy to see why hoarding Green Blossoms may seem like a decent strategy.
However, this is easier said than done, especially when players realize that this simple item costs at least 1000 Souls, if not more! Players are better off killing Frog-Rays to farm this item instead if they really want to enjoy the full benefits of the Green Blossom.

4Thunder Stoneplate Ring
The Thunder Stoneplate Ring is a piece of equipment that seems pretty useful, given how many enemies and bosses use Lightning to damage the player inDark Souls. However, just like the Spell Stoneplate Ring, the price is simply way too high to justify the purchase of this trinket.
The +50 damage resistance bonus to Lightning is definitely quite welcome, but not at the high price of 15000 Souls! Players are better off investing in their character andgetting armor that is specifically designed to resist lightning attacks instead.

3Ring Of Sacrifice
The Ring of Sacrifice is a pretty neat item to have, with this trinket ensuring that players don’t have to worry about losing their precious Souls when they die. However, this ring only works once and breaks after use, meaning that a wasteful death can be pretty irritating indeed.

Hoarding this piece of equipment isn’t exactly recommended either, especially since players need to spend a whopping 5000 Souls for what is essentially a ring that can only be worn once before an untimely death takes it away for good. Players never know when a Ring of Sacrifice may come in handy, which makes buying it a pretty wasteful decision indeed.
2Aural Decoy
There are many great spells that players can use inDark Soulsif they go down the path of a magic-wielding dealer of death. Aural Decoy is definitely not one of them, with this spell essentially serving as a distraction technique that players can use after purchasing it for 1000 Souls.
The cost of the spell itself may not be that high, but there’s no denying that Aural Decoy is a pretty wasteful spell in the grand scheme of things. It’s far from a critical spell, and players who do end up buying this spell will find themselves rarely using it because of how unwieldy and unnecessary it is.

1Flash Sweat
Flash Sweat is a pretty unique spell, dousing the player with water to reduce the damage of any fire techniques. While this sounds like a good idea in practice, this buff takes a while to execute and the time taken to apply the same isn’t really worthwhile either.
This spell isa part of the Pyromancy tree, which boasts numerous amazing spells that can melt enemies in no time flat. Given how damaging and useful the other spells are, Flash Sweat feels like a slap in the face.

Dark Soulsis available for PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
