Classroom of the Elite’s11th episode showed how theTokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High Schoolstudents walk the thin line between what’s socially unacceptable and what is considered ethical. It also revealed the thought patterns of some of the series cast.Characters like Koenji & Sakanayagireceived the spotlight in the episode, spicing up the show even further.
Surprisingly, although episode 10 featured Ayanokoji dropping out from aiding Class 1-D to reach Class A, episode 11 focused on other characters, sidelining the effect of Ayanakoji’s latest decision, especially its impact on the storyline. Summarily, episode 11 is unarguably one of the darkest ones in the anime so far, and for good reasons.

Ryuen & Koenji’s Clash
Still antsy about being unable to smoke out Class D’s mastermind, Ryuen resorted to direct confrontation. Entering Class D to spook its members and cause panic, Ryuen’s prime target was, surprisingly, Koenji, the self-absolved character of Class D. Sending his lackeys to stop his movements, Ryuen confronted Koenji directly regarding the identity of Class D’s mastermind. Not falling for any of Ryuen’s provocations, Koenji could clear every allegation regarding Ryuen’s claim that he was Class D’s hidden leader.
The short encounter between these two characters showed the level of Koenji’s reasoning skills. Even before Ryuen revealed his intentions for stopping him, Koenji deduced it instantly and revealed it to Ryuen. Even when threatened by Ryuen, Koenji wasn’t in the least bit afraid, showing his willingness to fight off Ryuen and his attackers if they approached him. This development shows the unhinged nature of mostClassroom of the Elitecharacters. On the other hand, the encounter also revealed the likes of Arisu Sakanayagi, Class A’s representative. Although nothing much was revealed about her in the episode, it revealed her nature, a manipulative one that enjoys teasing people.
Episode 11revealed her manipulative natureafter Ryuen tried to strike her for calling him “Dragon Boy.” One of Sakanayagi’s followers blocked his kick like an emotionless human shield. This disturbing scene shows just the level of control Sakanayagi has over her classmates. Ruffled by the quick turn out of events, Horikita tried to act as an umpire, trying to resolve the issue; however, to her surprise, the disputing characters acted as if nothing had happened. Although this might seem like a good thing, it just showed how accustomed these characters are to violence.
Ryuen’s Detestable Plan
After the Ryuen-Koenji clash, the episode focused on Ryuen and his plan to draw out Class D’s mastermind, who was responsible for throwing a wrench into his plans. According to Ryuen, over the past two weeks, he stationed members of his class to spy on Class D members, occasionally putting pressure on the class’s true mastermind. Apparently, his plan proved unfruitful. Regardless, he had one solid lead left to reveal the secret mastermind. Shockingly, that lead turned out to bea character accustomed to bullying, Karuizawa Kei. Ryuen planned to use Karuziawa Kei to draw out Ayanokoji.
Choosing one of the secluded spots on the Academy grounds, Ryuen covered the cameras and created a cold room to use for his plans. Soon, Karuizawa shows up, questioning Ryuen for his reasons for summoning her to the secluded location. Then, Ryuen revealed that he was aware of her connection with Class D’s mastermind. Going back to the season’s early episodes, fans will recall Manabe’s attempt to humiliate Karuizawa. However, Karuizawa was saved by Ayanokoji, who used a blackmail strategy on Manabe. Now, with the hunt for Class D’s mastermind, Manabe revealed her encounter with the mysterious character to Ryuen, leading him to use Karuizawa as bait for Ayanokoji.

The interrogation between Ryuen & Karuizawa started in a straightforward manner; however, Karuizawa denied knowing the identity ofClass D’s mastermind. Eventually, Ryuen revealed that he knew what really happened in the saga involving Manabe. This revelation fazed Kauizawa a bit, and although her actions suggested otherwise, she still insisted on not knowing the mastermind’s identity. This led Ryuen to implement the bullying strategy, an effective plan against someone like Karuizawa, who is a victim of bullying in the past. However, surprisingly, even after Ryuen bullied and threatened Karuizawa to reveal Ayanokoji’s identity, she refused.
Karuizawa’s unwillingness to reveal the mastermind’s identity is certainly worthy of praise. However, her actions were quite surprising, considering the fact that Ayanokoji went back on his promise to her. On the other hand, Ryuen didn’t shy away from the intense bullying, despite Karuizawa vehemently claiming to not know the identity. Before the episode ends, Ryuen then makes an unsettling statement that shows his nature as a detestable character: “For the sake of my pleasure, I will destroy Karuizawa Kei.” This foreboding statement spells doom for Karuizawa, as the extent Ryuen is willing to go to extract information from her is still unclear.
One bugging question remains after the end of episode 11: “Will Ayanokoji reveal his identity to Ryuen?” Certainly, his presence will save Karuizawa from further harassment. But, on the contrary, his absence might make this fatal for the character. Either way, episode 12 is something everyClassroom of the Elitefan should anticipatesince it will connect the show’s loose ends.
