It’s been a busy couple of weeks forCall of Duty: Warzonedeveloper Raven Software. Not only did the game recently launch a brand new season of content, butWarzonewas fully integrated intoCall of Duty: Vanguard. The integration process went a lot smoother than it did withBlack Ops Cold Warlast year, suffering way less issues and server problem. Fans also seem to be enjoying the new Caldera map, which completely replaces Verdansk.
However, one thing thatCall of Duty: Warzoneisn’t a stranger to is bugs and glitches. While the implementation ofRicochet anti-cheat promises to cut down on the hacking epidemicthe game has been experiencing, bugs have continued to undermine the game. While some issues have been minor like visual glitches, others have proven to be game breaking such as players appearing invisible or getting under the map, this latest one accidentally buffs an already popular weapon to absurd levels.

The latest update forCall of Duty: Warzonemade a number of balance changes to various weapons in the game including nerfs to the Automaton. However, players have discovered that the Kar98k bolt action sniper rifle has accidentally been turned into a semi-automatic weapon. While the Kar98k was already a popuylar choice, KRNG Depv shows why this weapon will now likely be the best choice as the gun can fire off rounds incredibly fast.
With just the phrase “they broke the Kar98 in Warzone now” Depv’s video shows the former sniper rifle essentially rapid firing rounds. The second part of the clip shows how devastating this is as an enemy player is overwhelmed by the onslaught with little time to react. The major change to fire rate is also paired with the already high damage output, meaning theKar98k is even more of a damage dealing machine. While this certainly appears unintentional, Raven has yet to officially respond, though one would imagine that the studio will look to fix this quickly.
However, getting this and the assortment of other bugs patched quickly may be a bit more problematic than originally thought. With Activision Blizzard still under heavy criticism due to its work enviornment and poor treatment of employees, several members of Raven’s QA staff were let go. Earlier this month, many of the remaining QA members announced they were planning on walking out in protest and a show of solidarity to those who lost their jobs. Considering QA is instrumental in not only finding issues with the game and helping to get things fixed, this event was another huge blow.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
