Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis gearing up for its major Season 5 update. TherecentWarzoneSeason 5 trailerhas confirmed some major changes are in store for both the standard game and the battle royale mode.
As manyModern Warfareplayers are very well aware, the file size for bothModern Warfareis astronomical. Now, Activision has confirmed the file sizes for each system: PS4 at 33.9 GB, Xbox One at 49.8 GB, and PC at 54.2 GB forModern Warfareand 47.4 GB forWarzone.

Activision and Infinity Ward have been steadily releasing new seasonal content forModern WarfareandWarzonefor quite some time now. Though now that the game is about to head into Season 5, many players concerns about the mounting file size of the game is steadily growing as well. Many members of the community on social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit have made post after post worrying thatModern Warfare’s file size is out of control.
Thankfully, it seems that publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward are well aware of the concerns about the game’s overall file size. In fact,Infinity Ward commented on the file sizeof the game in an interview with USGamer back in May. It has since made steps to address the problem on both PC and console. Now, Activision has officially addressed the issue with the Season 5 update stating, “Owners of the full version ofModern Warfareand free-to-playWarzonewill have a decrease in overall footprint on console.”
This bit of information was actually teased by Infinity Ward’s Production Director Paul Haile just two days prior. Haile said while the download size for the update will be big, the overall space the game takes up will shrink, meaning it’snot all bad news for Season 5’s update.
Activision does clarify that, “Once the new Season of content has been integrated into your game, and provided you had the update prior to Season Five installed,Modern Warfarewill have a decrease in overall footprint on console.” It seems that the update prior to this most recent Season 5 update is necessary for the decrease in size. Hopefully those whopreloaded the Season 5 updatealso installed the update prior to it.
