Call of Duty: Modern Warfarehas retained first place in two areas. First, it has been reported thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfareis the best-selling game in terms of year-to-date, from March 2019 to March 2020. Second, the game is apparently the best-selling game of 2020 so far. Previously,Call of Duty: Modern Warfarehad been the best-selling game of February 2020. It continued to perform well through March.

It was also announced by the NPD group March 2020 had been theCall of Dutyfranchise’s best March ever in terms of sale, thanks to the sales ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfareas well as interest inCall of Duty: Warzone.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered’s release at the end of March on PS4 also likely gave theCall of Dutyfranchise a boost of sorts in terms of sales, which led to theCall of Dutyfranchise’s success in March.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s March success, as well as that of the series overall, can likely be attributed to a number of aspects. First, a bump in interest likely occurred as a result of the free-to-playCall of Duty: Warzone’s release, which has blown past50 million downloadstotal. TheModern Warfareseries' renewed interest will likely continue for a while, which Activision appears to be banking on.Call of Duty: WarzoneandModern Warfarewill likely continue to receive new updates as time goes on, and it is rumored thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s campaign is remastered and ready for release. Between these factors and the events ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s campaign, players have definitely not seen the last ofModern Warfare.
