Earlier this year, fan favorite campaign characters Valeria Garza, the leader of the Las Almas Cartel, and Alejandro Vargas of the Mexican Special Forces joined the roster ofWarzoneand multiplayer operators as part of Season 3. Now, with Season 4 almost over,Call of Dutytook to Twitter to release two teaser images for the imminent Season 5. The second image featured three new characters which will presumably be added to the already large list of operators. Two of them are new faces, but one of the characters will be recognizable for those who’ve playedModern Warfare 2’s campaign: Phillip Graves. The CEO of Shadow Company, Graves was allied with Task Force 141 before betraying them as antagonist General Shepherd’s loyal lapdog.
Since Phillip Graves is supposedly killed by the player during a late-campaign boss battle, it will be interesting to see if his inclusion in Season 5 is merely an operator drop or if the story from the campaign is being picked up like it was with Valeria’s escape in Season 3. It wouldn’t be too surprising to see some sort of a resurrection story for Graves.2019’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfarerevived protagonist Alex Keller after he seemingly perished in an explosion at the end of the campaign, returning with a prosthetic leg as part of a post-launch season.
There are still many more details regarding Season 5 that should be rolling out in the coming days and weeks as the season prepares for an early August launch. It’ll be interesting to see if any story-related seasonalModern Warfare 2content will start to lead into the 2023 game, which isall but confirmed to beModern Warfare 3. The return of Phillip Graves as aWarzoneand multiplayer operator leaves the door open for some potentially interesting story beats if this is indeed more that just a skin drop.
