An Earlier Ranked Play Release Could Be a Lot Smoother Overall
The current standard forCall of Dutyis for Ranked Play to officially launch months after the game’s initial release, and 2024’sCall of Dutywill win a lot of fans over by ending this pattern. This year’s release should have Ranked Play available from day one, with the opening weeks of the title being a kind of “warm up” period to allow players to get to grips with the game and its content.
Crucially, this would also allow players togive early feedback on the release’s Ranked Play system, allowing Treyarch to iron out any issues with the mode as soon as possible. Rewards could be given to ranked players during this warm-up period to still incentivize play, with the system then officially launching with the game’s first season.
RecentCoDshave been criticized for how content is slowly drip-fed to players, with the late introduction of Ranked Play being one of the biggest grievances in this line of thinking.
