Fans of a major film or television franchise often hope that their favorite cast members are friends in real life and that their on-screen chemistry also exists off-screen. In the case of AMC’sBreaking Bad, faithful viewers of the series will be pleased to know that its two lead stars, Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, remain to be close friends to this very day.
In fact, just recently, Paul revealed that he has chosen Cranston to be the godfather of his newest child. Paul, 42, and his wife Lauren Parsekian, 35, welcomed their second child, a baby boy, just last month.

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon onThe Tonight Show, theBreaking Badstar explained that he asked Cranston, 66, on his birthday to be his son’s godfather and that he has already met the baby in person. Paul said Cranston jokingly turned down the offer at first, but then he revealed his true feelings, saying that he was very excited and honored by the request. Perhaps the most touching part of the interview was when Paul called Cranston one of his best friends in the world. He said he loved Cranston to death and that choosing him as his son’s godfather was a no-brainer.
Over the years, Paul and Cranston have been involved in a number of separate projects. Paul starred in popular works such as theBreaking BadsequelEl Camino(2019), while Cranston was involved in his own share of critically-acclaimed works such asTrumbo(2015), for which he managed to land an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. In their next highly-anticipated venture,Paul and Cranston will reprise their rolesas Jesse Pinkman and Walter White respectively in the final season ofBetter Caul Saul, bringing everything full circle.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paul said he was shocked to learn the news of his character’s return, saying he genuinely did not see it coming. He also added that it only makes sense that Jesse Pinkman and Walter White show up in the series finale since theBreaking Badfamily has been slowly appearing inBetter Call Saulin the latest seasons.
Fans ofBreaking Badwill recall the indisputable chemistry between the two, and after five seasons of being co-stars, it’s great to see that they have continued their friendship well beyond the series' end.
