With the arrival ofBorderlands 3on the scene came a flurry of excitement from players at first. That was until they played the game expecting the same humor from the first few games and found that it lacked in that style from the studio 2K. That didn’t mean there weren’t wild, wacky, and weird quests, though.

From bandits being stuck in porta-potties to guns laying eggs, the game still gave what it was worth with some humor, but mostly in gameplay.Borderlands 3,with its unique characters and the continuing storyline that can shock and dismay some players, with its brutality towards some old-beloved cast members, brings a serious tone with its addition to the series. It does help thatplayers can now get the game on saleto play if they haven’t purchased it yet.

With this quest, you find Vic’s head in a jar, Vic being Vaughn’s sidekick, and you have to figure out what’s going on. After players find her head in the jar, they’re tasked with taking it to a port to plug her in and follow her memories through Virtual Reality to be able to see what’s been going on and get revenge. Vaughn is understandably upset; however, he’s too chicken to go in and get her himself in classic Vaughn style.

At the end of the quest, players are greeted with Vic being restored to her body but with her jarred head in her arms, which is sentient and talks back. She talks about the Children of the Vault and how messed up they are (as if this wasn’t already known), sending you on your way.

9Rumble in the jungle

One of the funnier and weirder side quests, players will find this one challenging and fun at the same time. In this overrun research outpost on Eden-6, players are expected to search for a team of missing scientists. During the quest, you come up against all manner of challenges that increasingly get more difficult, against jabbers, and eventually the dinosaur-like AI-Hivemind.

This would be a perfect challenge totry Amara’s new skill trees. These challenges come from the FailureBot that greets players and sends them to what might be their doom, but instead ends up being fun for all jabber fest.

8Racht’d Up

Terry participated in several experiments to try to transfer consciousness into ratch creatures (of which players have been slaughtering) only to find himself in one after a while, and in doing that, figures out how to save his friend Glenn.

Fortunately, the two don’t meet such a grim fate as Terry’s failed experiments. This is one of the weirdest side quests in the game, considering you’re talking to a ratch with enormous ears and a mustache.

7Nibblenomincon

Players are likely familiar with the Necronomicon fromshows such asThe Evil DeadorArmy of Darkness.Originally H.P. Lovecraft wrote a novel on it among otherfamous books adapted to shows and moviesin his genre, and it’s been used in popular culture since then over the decades.

This quest will send players along a path searching for cooking supplies, inane tasks, funny side bits, and other weird steps that will make it a breeze to get through since it’s high on the entertainment value list.

6Rise & Grind

Players will enjoy this quest that sends them on a coffee run for Lorelei in the Meridian Metroplex. Talk to the Barista Bot, which is a pretentious barista bot for sure, making sure to grind every bean for the coffee she’ll enjoy, but first, players will need to get the power core for the coffee bar and a to-go cup that Lorelei favors.

This side quest, while not entirely weird in that it has those “what the heck” moments, is more of a “why am I doing this silly thing” quest. The humor here attempts to bring it up to the previousBorderlandslevels and does a pretty good job at it with being a bit silly and weird at the same time.

5The Sellout

The Sellout is much like another side quest inBorderlands 2,where players jump into a contraption to get smooshed to get loot. Here the leader of the Children of the Vault taunts the player for a full minute with their greed for more plunder by having them step into a crusher after having given a choice to walk away with dignity intact or kill her on screen.

What’s weird about this side quest is not the quest itself but the reward that’s gained after doing it. The gun, which is a pretty decent piece of loot, will talk to players while they hold it in Tyreen’s voice, insulting them by calling them all manner of things and helping their enemies by calling the player out to them as they enter the battle.

4Porta-Prison

The AI Cop Bot that inhabits the zone in Lectra City understandably doesn’t like illegal firearms. So he’s locked up a bandit inside this porta-prison until the bandit has decided that he wants to surrender his weapon.

The cop bot won’t let the bandit leave until he hands over his firearm, so it’s up to the player to take out the ‘corrupt’ bot and replace him with a more lenient predecessor. Once that’s done, players can try to open the porta-prison but unexpectedly launch it into the air instead, spewing all manner of gross stuff and leaving the bandit screaming for his dear life.

3Let’s Get It, Vaughn

Ah, Vaughn, that quirky character most of us know from eitherTales of the Borderlandsor theBorderlandsgames themselves. The TellTale games were so popular among players thateaster eggs were put into the new Krieg DLC packabout them, andTellTale put some of their other games on saleearlier this year to support the Diabetes Fund.

In this particular side quest, players are tasked with solving trivia, shooting bandits, and dealing with the screeching and yelling of them while you do it. The host lacks all manner of what seems like intelligent life, and yet Vaughn has a massive crush on her, so players are not only playing the game but playing matchmaker as well.

2The feeble & the furious

Head over to Pappy’s garage and talk to Lizzie to get the quest in which players will be tasked with running errands for the older man by driving him around. Tasks include picking up dentures by killing the dentist, collecting coins and milk pods, and then just generally running any errands that the old man might have.

During this entire trip, he insults, derides, and talks smack while the player, a vault hunter with nothing better to do it seems, drives him around. Players can, if they wish, decide instead to blow up his car in the very beginning and save themselves the trip and the smack talk. Lizzie will be happy they did so and give them their reward immediately upon returning to her.

1the name game

Sir Hammerlock needs players to help with researching new names for the Bullymong as he’s trying to write a book, and his publisher is iffy on other terms that he’s chosen. So he needs to have a catchier name for a monster that basically looks like a dog and wants to eat players' faces.

With this research, it comes to fruition that no name can be found, and Hammerlock decides instead that he’ll name them Bonerfarts and end the entire argument altogether. Now the question is, will bullymongs be a real issue in gameslike the tabletop that’s coming out? Or will they be left for bigger baddies on Pandora and the known universe.
