Summary
Larian Studios releases Hotfix 22 forBaldur’s Gate 3, bringing more crash fixes and UI improvements to the game, while also bringing the Xbox version back up to date with the other platforms. The latestBaldur’s Gate 3update continues a steady trend of keeping the massively popular RPG update to date between smaller, more common Hotfixes and the rarer but larger updates.
However, even with the consistent updating, the Xbox version ofBaldur’s Gate 3eventually fell behind the PC and PS5 versions. Following the launch ofHotfix 20 and 21 forBaldur’s Gate 3, the Xbox Series X/S versions were held back by Larian Studios so additional testing could take place due to the large amounts of crash fixes that were being prepared. Thankfully, Larian has wrapped up those tests and with Hotfix 22 now live, there’s now parity across all available platforms forBaldur’s Gate 3.

Taking to social media to confirm the hotfix details, Larian revealed the full patch notes and specifically thanked the Xbox community for being patient while they tested solutions for the various crashes that could happen whenBaldur’s Gate 3was suspended. Alongside those updates, theimprovements made inBaldur’s Gate 3Hotfix 20and 21 are also arriving in full, including fixes for the companion Minthara. Ironically enough, Hotfix 22 also makes a fix to a legacy dialogue flow that had been unintentionally enabled due to those exact changes, revealing choices that likely hadn’t occurred in the game to that point.
In addition to those crash and blocker updates, Hotfix 22 also made a number of quality of life improvements as well. Specifically, syncing and cross-saving messaging inBaldur’s Gate 3has been improved by clearly stating when it has failed and giving players an option to try again. The user interface has also been cleaned up, as Larian fixed issues where voice chat would overlap the minimap in split screen, saving and cross-saving messages no longer appear for “secondary local players” and the Another Player Is Joining pop-up now works as intended even when the host has an Xbox panel open.
While the Xbox is back on parity with the other platforms, this isn’t the first problem that has arisen. Naturally, the Series S version initially held up the launch for Xbox fans due to a situation of getting the local split screen feature to work. Fans have also noticed that thephysical edition ofBaldur’s Gate 3for Xboxis unique in that it needed 4 disks to fit everything, with Larian confirming that they were 500MB over the limit with just 3 disks.
