Breaking all kinds of box office records upon its debut in 2009, James Cameron’sAvatarintroduced Sci-Fi fans to the enrapturing world of Pandora for the first time, and they’ve been desperate to revisit it for well over a decade. Finally, after all these years,Avataris finally receiving some sequels, and the world of Pandora is slowly starting to grow, bit by bit. And hopefully one of the biggest contributors to this world can be the upcoming Ubisoft open-world game,Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Announced all the way back in 2017,Avatar: Frontiers of Pandorais set to be a canon entry in the franchise, taking place parallel to the events of the movie series in a different region.Avatar: Frontiers of Pandorawill take fans to a brand-new part of Pandora, called the Western Frontier, where they’re sure to meet plenty of new friends and foes, but there’s one element of the upcomingAvatar 3that would have been great to see inFrontiers of Pandora, and that’s its Ash People tribe.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Could Have Made Great Use of the Ash People
Avatar’s world of Pandora is a much bigger one than fans might first think. In the first movie, audiences are only properly introduced to the Omaticaya clan ofthe indigenous Na’vi people. This clan lives in one of the planet’s gigantic Hometrees, and has its own set of unique customs and rituals. There are hundreds of different Na’vi clans spread across Pandora, and while fans do get to see a few of them team up at the end of the firstAvatar, they don’t really get to meet them properly or find out how their customs set them apart from the Omaticaya.
InAvatar 2: The Way of Water, fans are formally introduced to a new clan, the water-dwelling Metkayina clan. While this clan shares the same adoration for the nature surrounding them, their focus is less on the land and trees, and more so on the oceans and their underwater wildlife. So far, every Na’vi clanthat audiences have been introduced to is, for the part, friendly towards the series' protagonists, but that’s all set to change inAvatar 3.
In the thirdAvatarmovie, potentially calledAvatar 3: The Seed Bearer, fans are going to be introduced to another Na’vi clan, the Ash People. Unlike the Omaticaya and the Metkayina, the Ash People will apparently be a little more aggressive and territorial. Residing in the volcanic regions of Pandora, the Ash People are likely to have a nature similar to the very flames they wield, being fierce and unrelenting, and they could potentially act as the primary antagonists of the nextAvatarentry.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandorais likely well into development, still apparently targeting a late 2023 or early 2024 release, so the chances of fans seeing the Ash People in the game are very low. This is pretty unfortunate, as the Ash People would have benefitedAvatar: Frontiers of Pandorain a few pretty significant ways. The Ash People would have givenFrontiers of Pandoraa much more varied enemy list.
While the villains ofFrontiers of Pandorahaven’t been confirmed just yet, it’s extremely likely that players will be facing off against Pandora’s more hostile wildlife, and likely the human RDA faction, who fans have seen plenty of in the last two movies. Including the Ash People would have given the game much more enemy variety, which is a core element in anopen-world RPG. Adding the Ash People would have also provided a new region for players to explore, one which offers a completely different biome to the ones fans have seen so far.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandorais currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
