Ever since theAssassin’s Creedfranchise delivered its soft reboot withAssassin’s Creed Origins, fans have noticed that the games have shifted from the more traditional action-stealth gameplay into titles that have a much bigger focus on RPG elements. For some, these changes to the oldAssassin’s Creedformula are great, while others long for a return to the days when a hidden blade strike instantly kills an enemy. With the rumored latest entry in the series, it seems that Ubisoft may be returningAssassin’s Creedto those roots.
The newest game, which will reportedly be known asAssassin’s Creed Mirage, has had a lot of information leaked over the past few months. Now, the latest details allegedlyrevealed forAssassin’s Creed Mirageappear to show off some cover art for the game and the pre-order bonus mission fans will receive should they commit cash to the title before it launches. Apparently shared first by ScriptLeaksR6 on Twitter, so far it hasn’t been verified whether these images are legitimate or not, but it has been mentioned online that they appeared on the Ubisoft store for a moment.

Pre-order bonus missions have been a part of theAssassin’s Creedgamesfor years, so it makes sense thatMiragewould include one as well. According to the leak, the pre-order mission forAssassin’s Creed Mirageis called “The Forty Thieves Quest,” referencing a popular tale in Iraqi folklore, which makes sense considering Ubisoft’s latest game in the long running franchiseis reportedly set in Baghdad.
As well as allegedly revealing the pre-order bonus forAssassin’s Creed Mirage, the cover art also features a look at the game’s assassin, who appears to be wielding a sword in his right hand and the iconic hidden blade in the other. If the previous leaks for the upcoming title are to be believed, then this character is likely Basim, who is said to be theprotagonist ofAssassin’s Creed Mirage. Basim previously featured in the story ofAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, and so it is possible the games will share a similar time period.
It seems fans will soon find out how much truth is in all these leaks when Ubisoft holds its Forward livestream on September 10, dedicated to the future of theAssassin’s Creedfranchise. BesidesMirage, which apparently takes the series back to its roots, there is also theupcoming release ofAssassin’s Creed Infinity, which is set to include a bunch of different historical settings for players to experience within one game.
