Summary
AMass Effectplayer recently encountered a bizarre glitch that temporarily had Commander Shepard moving in strange ways. Despite launching back in 2007, BioWare’s original sci-fi RPG is still regularly revisited by tons of devoted fans. While the ending of the trilogy left many disappointed, theMass Effectseries as a whole still ranks among theRPGs with the best writing.
The success of theMass Effect Legendary Edition, which released in 2021, speaks to the ongoing love for Commander Shepard and his loyal crew. With a sequel on the horizon and lots ofunsolved mysteries leading intoMass Effect 4, it’s not surprising that these characters have been revisited by players lately and that the games are getting more attention online. Of course, revisiting old titles isn’t just about nostalgia, as part of the fun can also involve finding glitches that never got patched out.

On Reddit, aMass Effectplayer going by LSao97 has recently shared a video of a humorous glitch that they encountered during a run through of the game. In the video, Shepard is seen alternately holding his hands low and out the sides and running while waving one hand over his head. The glitch persists for several seconds, even as Shepard swaps weapons and even throws a grenade. It only seems to end when he takes aim with a rifle, restoring him to his regular posture.
It’s unclear from the video precisely what caused the glitch. The video begins while it’s already in effect, and SLao97 doesn’t offer any commentary. It does appear that the glitch occurs during the ground combat section of the Virmire mission, as Shepard and his team are racing to confront the antagonist, Saren. Of course, the game has been known to have some odd character glitches, as last year,aMass Effectplayer found a glitch with Shepard’s eyes.
Despite some lingering bugs and missteps by Bioware with the end of the trilogy andMass Effect Andromeda, the series remains a beloved part of gaming culture and continues to receive attention from players. With some observers notingMass Effect 4’sdirection is already looking promising, it’s likely that the franchise will be getting even more attention in the coming years. Until fans hear more about the future, however, they’ll likely continue to look back to the fun (and occasionally glitchy) originals.
