While the graphics definitely are not the best — just look at the faces of characters — it was a fun addition to the series. Fighting through Italy, Normandy, and Germany gave players a whole lot of fun.

9Medal Of Honor: Rising Sun

Medal of Honor: Rising Sunwas released in 2003 and takes players to the Pacific Theatre of World War II. Players most likely remember it because of the iconic first mission, taking place during the attack of Pearl Harbor. The rest of the game took players through the Pacific, where the protagonist joins OSS.

Rising Sunalso had multiplayer, allowing the player and three others to battle each other. There was also a co-op option, letting players go through the campaign along with a friend.

8Killzone

The firstKillzonecame out in 2004 and brings players to the fictional planet of Vekta. The player fights against an enemy faction, called the Helghans, to defend the planet.

It is also nice to replay the game that spawned theKillzoneseries. For any player that might want to play the game with updated graphics,Killzonewas remastered for the PlayStation 3 in 2012.

7007 Nightfire

007 Nightfirewas released in 2002 and follows James Bond as he uncovers a plot to take over the world. The game has players snipe from a helicopter in Paris, infiltrate a castle in Austria, and take down an industrialist bent on world domination.Nightfirealso has multiplayer that includes characters and levels from a fewJames Bondmovies.

The multiplayer maps range from Fort Knox to Atlantis. The characters to choose from include Jaws, Baron Samedi, and Goldfinger. With local multiplayer, players can play against their friends in all of these locations.

6Battlefield 2 Modern Combat

Modern Combatwas released in 2005 and acts as an expansion forBattlefield 2.It has a singleplayer campaign, pitting the United States against China in a war that takes place in Kazakhstan. There is also a multiplayer mode, allowing 24 players to fight against each other.

Modern Combathas two different game modes — Conquest or Capture the Flag. The multiplayer mode was announced to be shutting down in 2010, but the campaign mode is still available for players to enjoy.

5Half-Life

Half-Lifeisa game from Valvethat was released in 2001 for the PlayStation. It follows Gordon Freeman as he takes part in an experiment that allows aliens to invade the earth. Players fight through Black Mesa and make their way to Xen, where they defeat the mastermind of the invasion.

The game also came withDecay,which allows the player to play through a new co-op story. There was also a secret alien mode, where players could play as Vortigaunts as they travel through Black Mesa.

4Return To Castle Wolfenstein

Return to Castle Wolfensteinwas released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003. It follows William Blazkowicz as he investigates the SS Paranormal Division. The PlayStation 2 version is unique, as it contains a prequel level that takes place in Egypt. The game allows players to fight through the occult to stop the Nazis from becoming more powerful.

There is also a multiplayer mode, allowing players to play either as the Axis or the Allies. It has the Allies attempt to complete an objective, with the Axis defending against the attacking side. There are three game modes for players — objective, stopwatch, and checkpoint.

Star Wars Battlefrontwas released in 2004 and allows players to play in either first-person or third-person. Players can play as Separatists, Rebels, Clones, or Stormtroopers as they fight through levels that are familiar to anyStar Warsfan. Playing split screen with friends is most likely a memory all gamers have with this game. Going against friends in Galactic Conquest to take over the galaxy was sure to make some fun memories, as well as some angry moments.

Frontlinewas released in 2002 and starts with the player landing on Omaha Beach during D-Day. Afterwards, the protagonist, James Patterson, joins the OSS and takes part in missions across Europe. The final mission has the player kill the antagonist and steal a Nazi prototype for a plane.

Players are able to obtain medals are each mission, depending on how much health they lost, their accuracy, and the amount of kills they got. Finest Hourwas released in 2004 and acts as an expansion to the originalCall of Duty.It starts off with the Soviet campaign, going through Stalingrad. It also features the British, fighting in Africa, and Americans, fighting into Germany. There was also a multiplayer mode, allowing up to 16 players.

A fun fact is the singer for AC/DC, Brian Johnson, voiced one of the commandos in the British campaign. There were also numerous missions where the player was a tanker, allowing them to fight against enemies while controlling a tank.
